MET Encore: El Ultimo Suero De Frida Y Diego
El Ultimo Suero De Frida Y Diego
Gabriela Lena Frank/Libretto by Nilo Cruz
(Recorded live May 26)
Saturday, June 20 - 12:00 pm
American composer Gabriela Lena Frank makes her Met debut with her first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Fashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth, the story depicts Frida, sung by leading mezzo soprano Isabel Leonard, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met premiere of Frank’s opera, a “confident, richly imagined score” (The New Yorker) that “bursts with color and fresh individuality” (Los Angeles Times). The vibrant new production, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker, following her remarkable 2024 debut staging of Ainadamar.

Tristan Und Isolde (Encore) RICHARD WAGNER NEW PRODUCTION
*recorded live
Saturday, April 11 1:00pm
After years of anticipation, a truly unmissable event arrives as the electrifying Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner’s transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan. The momentous occasion also marks the advent of a new, Met-debut staging by Yuval Sharon—hailed by The New York Times as “the most visionary opera director of his generation” and the first American to direct an opera at the famed Wagner festival in Bayreuth—as well as Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s first time leading Tristan und Isolde at the Met. Mezzo soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her signature portrayal of Brangäne, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny, who sings Kurwenal after celebrated Met appearances in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer and Ring cycle. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green makes an important role debut as King Marke. ESTIMATED RUN TIME: 4 HRS 50 MINS (TWO INTERMISSIONS

Film: Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
February 4&5
Film: Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
PG 2 hours, 3 minutes
Wednesday, 7:00pm, Thursday, 1:00pm
A 2025 historical drama film directed by Simon Curtis from a screenplay by Julian Fellowes. It is the sequel to Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) and the third and final film in the Downton Abbey franchise. Many of the original franchise's cast members, who also appeared in the previous two films, return. Paul Giamatti and Dominic West reprise their roles as Harold Levinson from the television series and Guy Dexter from the previous film, respectively, while Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan join the cast. In 1930 London, Lord and Lady Grantham, and their daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Bertie Pelham (aka Lord and Lady Hexham), attend a play starring Guy Dexter and Noël Coward, who is also the playwright. Backstage, they meet with Dexter, Coward, and former Downton Abbey butler Thomas Barrow, now Dexter's personal assistant and partner-lover. The next day, the Crawley family, including eldest daughter Mary, attend a ball given by Bertie's cousin Lady Petersfield. When news suddenly breaks about Mary's divorce from her estranged husband, Henry Talbot, Lady Petersfield insists that Mary leave before her guests of honour, Prince Arthur of Connaught, and his wife arrive.
